About Us

What is the most important concept behind coffee drinking. It is the recognition that this humble beverage can, in a brief moment, transpose the drinker to a singular thought, that being simply, is that the cup being consumed is so delicious, nothing else matters within the whimsical barriers of the galaxy. It’s kind of a Zen moment. How come this cup of coffee is more important, than say, the anxious and really interesting thought you had about a fraction of a second ago. That’s when you are having a good cup of coffee. Noticeably, in those moments you don’t need or want it that cup of with anything. Diverging, but that’s why we serve no food items in our espresso bar, you don’t need it. Those times a doughnut, cigarette or other yummy compliments call, they can be discarded, they are only wants. You don’t need company either but admittedly, a shared moment is better. So, we have put some tables and chairs out. But, the point is, a great cup of coffee stands out and it stands out alone. It’s big, it’s brave and obviously, some kind, of super force. All the more remarkable, considering its price and comparisons to other food and beverages goodies.

So, you don’t need anything with that cup of coffee but you do want that great coffee moment again. That’s the hook and it’s a very nice hook. The problem is you seemingly can’t have it again. You don’t have to be a Headmaster, to know, that this is not only an irritating problem for a concerned coffee drinker; but is blatantly the work of a damned wretched and evil force. This is where our work comes in. From informal espresso bar surveys, undertaken by dedicated and enlightened professionals within our establishment, it transpires that the average coffee drinker can always say where they had their favourite three cups of coffee, like their favourite three books or films. But, seemingly, they have all forgotten what those cups of coffee tasted like. Presumably, either because the concerned beverages were so delicious, they overwhelmed neurological cells not yet understood, by those concerned, who should know better or, more likely, another reason. Irrespective, our surveys, again and again, point to one thing. That is, the coffee drinker wants that Zen moment again. “It was just so delicious ….” or ” I would happily sell my husband…” interestingly, our surveys also reveal, a favourite cup of coffee can be talked about many times longer, than the time it took to consume. Back at base camp, from the summation of these empirical experiences and surveys, we note that the coffee drinker remembers time and place but is disappointed with the consistency of the hook. You will be pleased to know, that this is where our work comes in.

But, like all good Citizens, let us first deliberate, then recognise, that coffee drinking is not about consistency, it’s about adventure. Time has proven, that you can have consistently bad and bland coffee but anything Zen like can only be repeated occasionally. It’s the cyclic nature, motion thing, things coming and going. Sometimes there is so much coming and going, it gets confusing. But, back at the cup of coffee, the reality check is, how can one really expect a coffee to be stupendous every time, a good cup of coffee comes from a shrub on a well maintained farm, with a knowledgeable farmer, in some forsaken high altitude region, with a fuming volcano and a host of other non-geographical problems nearby. The little old bean is just a bean. We were kidding when we said it was a super force. The facts are plain to see, that is, there are more real variables and real problems in selecting, getting, roasting and making a cup of coffee, than one of our fine elected and selfless members of Cabinet , ever contemplates. The art of the Coffee Roaster is to deliver a great cup of coffee, that is going to create these moments. Again, it’s not going to be every cup, we expect to see 10 movies for 1 reasonable one, the coffee drinker is going to have to wait and have an adventure till the next one . Let’s sum it up, it’s the coffee moment that connects you, connects you to your own sense of sensory perception, people and places. It’s that, that simple human endeavour. That’s what we are about and where we are at, at Coffee Dominion. We think, when it’s not getting too confusing…
