An Ethiopian sundried is a special coffee. Because these are purchased through the ECX they are a rainbow coffee. You never quite know what you will get but it is always a treasure. Good sundried coffees are difficult to process because you can’t see the process compared to contemporary wet processing.  They are an art only the top batches are worth drinking, they are heavy, sweet with stone fruit notes. A must try.

Discover the Rich Legacy of Harrar's Sun-Dried Coffees For centuries, the sun-dried coffees from Harar, Ethiopia have captivated coffee lovers around the world with their exquisite flavors and remarkable history. Renowned as one of the oldest coffee-growing regions, Harrar's unique coffee tradition dates back to the 10th century.

Nestled amidst the rugged landscapes of eastern Ethiopia, Harrar benefits from the perfect combination of altitude, climate, and fertile soil, creating optimal conditions for coffee cultivation. The region's coffee cherries are meticulously handpicked by local farmers, who have inherited their expertise across generations.

What sets Harrar's sun-dried coffees apart is their traditional processing method. After harvest, the coffee cherries are spread out on raised beds or mats to dry naturally under the scorching African sun. This ancient technique enhances the beans' distinct flavor profiles, imbuing them with fruity and wine-like notes, a medium body, and a delicate acidity.

Harrar's sun-dried coffees are a testament to Ethiopia's rich coffee heritage and the unique terroir of the Harar region. At our retail coffee store, we take pride in offering you these exceptional beans, carefully sourced from Harrar's finest coffee farms. Experience the time-honored flavors and indulge in a sensory journey through Ethiopia's coffee history with each sip of our Harrar sun-dried coffee.

• Grinding your coffee immediately before use.
• Using fresh coffee. Coffee over 3 months old is inevitably stale.
• Monitoring grind size, goal a 4 minute extraction to commence with.
Water quality makes a difference, tap water is treated for health outcomes not quality.
